Lacuna Sports is excited to announce a new partnership with the Surrey Cricket Foundation. This will support the 71 girls enrolled on the Surrey Invitational Programme (SIP), an initiative that plays a vital role in developing and retaining emerging female cricket talent in clubs across Surrey and south London.
The partnership sees Lacuna create bespoke performance training tops specifically for SIP participants.
SIP is designed for girls who have narrowly missed selection for County Age Group squads, ensuring players remain engaged, supported, and ambitious as they continue their development. Participants benefit from high-level technical, tactical, and targeted skill development, often delivered by a number of the same coaching staff who train the girls in the Surrey County Pathway.
SIP plays a crucial role in retaining talent, creating a sustainable pipeline that supports progression from junior into senior cricket and strengthening the long-term future of the women’s game. Lacuna Sports was an obvious choice as partner, given their local roots and mission to support meaningful change within the game.
The bespoke Lacuna training top combines functionality, comfort, and fit with a clean, considered aesthetic. More than just training wear, it represents belonging and confidence — giving players something they can wear with pride as they continue their cricketing journey.
SIP Programme Lead Sarah Rawoo said of the partnership, “We’re delighted to be partnering with Lacuna Sports to elevate the Surrey Invitational Programme. Their commitment to supporting female cricketers aligns closely with our own, and this partnership helps us give girls a strong sense of belonging in the game, ensuring they remain engaged and inspired as they continue their cricketing journey.”
Lacuna Sports Founder Leigh Burns comments, “Lacuna was founded to put female cricketers first, and partnering with the Surrey Cricket Foundation on the SIP Programme does exactly that. Every aspiring young cricketer dreams of their first County top, and we worked hand in hand with Surrey Cricket Foundation to design something unique, giving the participants a sense of pride when they wear the Surrey colours.”
Through this partnership, Lacuna Sports and the Surrey Cricket Foundation are united in the belief that talent should be nurtured, opportunity should be sustained, and female cricketers deserve investment at every stage of their development.
