Lacuna Sports Announced as Principal Partner of The Final Word’s Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Coverage

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 kicks off tomorrow, 30 September, in India and
Sri Lanka – and Lacuna Sports is proud to be the Principal Partner of a brand-new daily
podcast series created especially for the tournament: Women’s World Cup Daily.

Hosted by Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon, the sharp minds behind The Final Word, this
daily show will run throughout the tournament until the final on 2 November. Joined by a
team of expert co-hosts, they’ll bring insightful conversations, big questions, and real stories
from inside the women’s game – tackling the topics that matter most.

This partnership goes far beyond commentary. Women’s World Cup Daily will explore how
cricket can remove barriers to participation for girls and women – starting with one of the
most fixable issues: kit.

Despite growing visibility, around 70% of teenage girls still drop out of sport – a stat
echoed globally by Clare Hanlon and in the UK by Tess Howard. At Lacuna, we’ve seen the
impact of inappropriate, ill-fitting, or male-designed kit on girls at all levels – from see-
through trousers and uncomfortable pads to cricket wear that ignores periods, modesty
needs, and female performance requirements.

Too often, girls walk away from the sport – not because they lack passion or talent, but
because they weren’t equipped to belong. This partnership will act as a vehicle to ask;
What if the game adapted to girls – instead of asking girls to adapt to the game? How much
stronger could our teams be if more girls stayed in cricket?

“What a perfect fit to have The Final Word working with Lacuna, who have been a true
trailblazer in making sure girls and women are kitted out appropriately when playing the
game we all love. Our commitment to women’s cricket has been a major one across the last
decade, so being able to play our part in hopefully helping more girls and women feel
comfortable taking it up is a terrific opportunity.” Adam Collins, co-host of The Final Word

Why This Matters to Lacuna

This partnership is an opportunity to raise awareness of who we are – and how we’re

game. At Lacuna, we’re delighted to be working with Adam, Geoff and the whole Final Word
team to tackle tough questions and spark real change. Every woman and girl deserves to

step onto the pitch feeling confident, comfortable, and ready to perform – and this partnership
is a big step toward making that a reality.” Leigh Burns, Founder, Lacuna Sports
