The Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) is a collection of 25 independent girls’ schools in the UK. They run a national GDST Select Programme of their top athletes, and select a team of the best athletes across all of their schools in 4 sports each year to compete against higher level teams.
In 2022, GDST asked Lacuna Sports to design kit for their 2023 GDST Select Cricket Tournament v The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The brief was to create a black and white kit for the match with a design in keeping with the feel of the sport, such as an ODI or IPL cricket top.
We wanted to create something special that captured the essence of the event, so we created a spiderweb diagram on a map of the UK, plotting all of the GDST schools around the country. This design was then incorporated into our Pace top, giving something uniquely GDST to the competitors. To go with their tops, we created a black Lacuna Technical Hoodie with white accents, and both Pace and Spin trousers to make sure each girl had the fit they wanted on the day.
